Located just outside Carlow Town in a fabulous setting with the Wicklow Mountains to the east and the Killeshin Hills to the west. Designed by Des Smyth and Declan Branigan, there are water features on six holes and the greens, constructed to the highest USGA specification are quite magnificent. The course, which is playable all year round provides a challenging game of golf with some stunning scenery and memorable sunsets. The warm welcome extended and the air of relaxation sets the tone for a most enjoyable golfing experience. Add to this a stunning 4 star Ramada Hotel and Leisure Centre with a state of the art Clubhouse and 48 Golf Lodges overlooking the course, and you are guaranteed that your visit will be unforgettable.
LEINSTER HILLS GOLF CLUB
Graiguealug, Nurney, Co. Carlow
Set in beautiful surroundings, Leinster Hills Golf Club is a unique golfing experience, on 200 acres of rolling Carlow countryside. The topography of this course is unrivalled and its layout and design maximises the wonderful scenery around it. This par 70 championship course offers fantastic vistas of the surrounding countryside and the Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford mountain ranges. Designed with the golfer in mind, Leinster Hills Golf Club is a challenging course which will guarantee many hours of enjoyment. Situated 9km from Carlow Town and Tullow and close to Bagenalstown off the N80, well signposted. Shareholdings available. Societies catered for.
MOUNT WOLSELEY HILTON

Situated 12 km east of Carlow town, Mount Wolseley is set in opulent surroundings and boasts an 18-hole championship golf course. According to Christy O’Connor Junior, course designer, ” Rarely after a first look around a potential site for a golf course had I been so impressed as at Mount Wolseley. What we have here is a fair but testing 18 holes of championship golf, none of which will disappoint even the most discerning player”. This par 72-course provides a challenge to every ability as each hole presents demanding approach shots, with wide landing areas being the only concession. With its broad fairways, unforgiving rough and picturesque water hazards, Mount Wolseley has justifiably played host to a number of national and international golf competitions.
Borris Golf Club

In the south of the county the course at Borris commands panoramic views of the neighbouring countryside with Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs Mountains to the east, and the Barrow Valley to the west. This parkland course is maintained to a very high standard with modern sand based greens and an automatic watering system. The course currently covers approx. 60 acres and is proud to possess some magnificent specimens of trees including Beeches, Oaks, Horse Chestnut, Sweet Chestnut, Poplars as well as Fir and Silver Birch. While these are beautiful to behold they are also quite a challenge to avoid! It would be difficult to find a course in a more picturesque setting, with the stately MacMurrough Kavanagh family seat in the background. Practice area and putting green available. Visitors will enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere of the clubhouse. Currently open for membership.
Ian Kerr Golf Academy & Carlow Golf Range

30 bay floodlit, state of the art golf range set at the foot of the Killeshin Hills – a perfect place for golfers of all standards to relax in tranquil surroundings, and to practice and improve all their golfing skills at their own pace. Equipment of the highest standard is provided to ensure a true reflection of the individual's game and includes a new specification putting and pitching green and practise bunkers. Resident P.G.A. professional, Mr. Ian Kerr, is available for golf tuition and advice and his lessons cater for groups, families and individuals. Private teaching area with video tuition ensures success. The golf range also has a large, fully stocked golf shop. A personalised club "fitting" service is available together with a 24-hour full club re-gripping facility. Tea, coffee and snacks available.
Carrigleade Golf Course
Carrigleade, St. Mullins, Co. Carlow
An 18-hole parkland, par 58 course with greens of 500 square metres where the green keeping and course management is noted for its excellent standards. A varied course with a picturesque, enjoyable walk. Caters for societies. Magnificent stone walls are a particular feature of this course while a variety of trees ensure a good range of shots. Refreshments available.
Park Par 3
Tankardstown, Tullow, Co. Carlow
Splendid views surround this course with the Wicklow Mountains as a backdrop and Mount Leinster to the west. This Par 3 course consist of 18 holes with distances varying from 114 to 228 yards from tee to pin, making this a challenging game for both the beginner and the more experienced player. Several magnificent mature trees line the course providing shelter on those rainy days. The course also features two large lakes while plenty of sand traps must also be overcome, ensuring a very challenging experience. Available for golf classic and society bookings.
Quinagh House Par 3, Quinagh House, Carlow.

Quinagh House is an 18-hole par 3 golf course situated on the outskirts of Carlow town. The course features good yardage with spacious practice greens and a wide variety of trees add to the challenge of a golfing round here. Refreshments and light snacks available in the club house.
Within a 30 minute drive of Carlow are a number of excellent golf courses including those at Mount Juliet, Rathsallagh and Kilkea Castle. |
